CHOSC18 and single use plastics

CHOSC18 is following the example of CHOGM18 by setting ambitious goals to eliminate avoidable single-use plastics to prevent waste from entering our oceans. As International Development Secretary, Penny Mordaunt said in April:

“We are joining forces with our Commonwealth partners, bringing together global expertise to stop plastics waste from entering oceans – and by matching pound-for-pound the UK public’s passionate response to the issue, we can make our shared ambition for clean oceans a reality.”

At CHOSC18 we have sourced alternative materials and focused on recyclable products wherever possible. We will be providing all attendees with a reusable drinks container for the duration of the conference and for use afterwards. Our venue, the KIA Oval, has also vowed to go single use plastic free by 2020. This is alongside a number of other pro-environment commitments  that will feed into the running of CHOSC18.

Look out for more evidence of our campaign against single-use plastics at the event!
