Head of Geospatial Research at the Office for National Statistics
Dr Chris Gale is the Head of Geospatial Research in the Data Architecture division at the Office for National Statistics. His role is focused on developing and expanding the capability within ONS to undertake and deliver geospatial analysis for the public good. He has previously held research positions at the University of Southampton and University College London – with his work focusing on analysing the demographic characteristics of populations to better understand society. This includes creating the 2011 Output Area Classification, a free and open geodemographic classification of the UK, as part of his PhD.
