Director of the Central Statistical Office in Grenada
Halim Brizan is currently the Director of the Central Statistical Office in Grenada, a position he held since 2010. Before his appointment as Director, he worked as a Statistician in the Central Statistical Office from 2003 to 2010. His experience includes economic and social and demographic statistics as well as survey management. He headed the social and demographic statistics unit prior to becoming Director of Statistics.
He is also the current Chair of the CARICOM Standing Committee of Caribbean Statisticians (SCCS), A member of the CARICOM Advisory Group of Statistics (AGS) and A member of the recently formed Caribbean Association of Professional Statisticians (CAPS).
Prior to working at the Central Statistical Office he was employed in 1997 by the Government of Grenada as a secondary school mathematics teacher, where he developed a passion for mathematics, statistics and quantitative analysis.
His Educational Background includes a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Economics and Management from the University of the West Indies and a Master’s of Science Degree in Finance and Econometrics from the Queen Mary, University of London.
