Quality Assurance of Administrative Data
The UK Statistics Authority’s Regulatory Standard for the quality assurance of administrative data that are used to produce official statistics is presented below. This comprises:
- Quality Assurance of Administrative Data – Setting the Standard (305.9 Kb PDF document)
- Administrative Data Quality Assurance Toolkit (200.5 Kb PDF document)
The Standard recognises the increasing role that administrative data are playing in the production of official statistics and clarifies the Authority’s expectations for what producers of official statistics should do to assure themselves of the quality of these data.
The toolkit that supports it provides helpful guidance to statistical producers about the practices they can adopt to assure the quality of the data they receive, and sets out the standards that our Assessors will use when assessing statistics against the Code of Practice for Official Statistics.
This work builds upon the Exposure Draft Report published in July 2014. The Exposure Draft, further background statements and presentations made at the Authority’s conference can be found in the links below:
- Statement – Quality Assurance of Administrative Data (660.9 Kb PDF document)
- Monitoring Review Outline – The adequacy of statistical audit of administrative data from which official statistics are produced (83.3 Kb PDF document)
