We are currently assessing the extent to which DCMS’s Community Life Survey meet the professional standards set out in the statutory Code of Practice for Statistics. This is the first time that these statistics have been assessed for National Statistics status.
The Code of Practice covers a wide range of issues centred round the three pillars of trustworthiness, quality and value. Capturing the views of those who use, or would like to use these statistics, forms an important part of our judgement, including how they could better meet more people’s needs. Feedback can be in any form, but it would be particularly helpful to us if you could structure your response around the following areas:
- For what purpose do you use the statistics?
- Are the statistics of sufficient quality for your needs? How clear is the advice from DCMS about the strengths and limitations of the statistics? What further information would you like?
- Is the statistical commentary helpful to you? How could it be improved?
- If you have requested additional data or raised queries with DCMS about these statistics, or if the statisticians have sought your views about any aspect of the statistics, please tell us how well DCMS engaged with you.
We welcome comments on any other aspect of these statistics, which you think might be relevant to our assessment.
It may be useful for us to share your comments with DCMS to enable them to take account of your views. Please could you advise if you are happy for us to pass your comments and contact details on?
You may email your response to the regulation team or, if you would prefer, to speak to the assessment team please call Jo Mulligan (01329 444877).
