Children, Education and Skills

Education and training, from providing the best start for young people to equipping the workforce, has a profound impact on the society, business and the economy of the countries of the UK. High quality statistics and data to support effective decision making and evaluate policy implementation is crucial.

The Children, Education, and Skills area includes statistics on various topics – for example teachers and lecturers, learners, and those not in education, employment or training – and covers all stages of education from early years to university and beyond.

Earlier this year we published our Assessment of Statistics for England on Schools, Pupils and their Characteristics, and on Absence and Exclusions and we are in ongoing discussion with the Department for Education as it takes action to address the requirements of the report.
