Population

The Population theme includes statistics on the size and geographic spread of the population, on the factors driving population change (including births, deaths and migration) and on topics such as families and older people.

Current regulatory activities:

International migration – we are exploring the extent to which the available data on international migration meet the needs of society and what might be done to fill any gaps. We have published an outline of the work we plan to do and a summary of our activities so far. We have also reviewed the quality of long-term student migration statistics.

We are holding a roundtable discussion on employment and migration in autumn 2017 and have plans for further roundtables in late 2017 on education and service delivery, respectively. We will publish reports about the discussions after each event.
